Why I’m Running
As a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, into my eightieth year, I have seen dramatic changes to our fair city…not always the best, but change can present itself in both positive and negative ways. We need change to maintain the life blood of our city. I was born in the Naval Hospital, was graduated from Portsmouth High School in ‘64, graduated from UNH and completed my first year at Plymouth in an M.Ed. Curriculum. My career was five decades in Information Technology Management and much of that in teaching, training and tutoring technology.
I completed an 8-week course at the Community Police Academy of Portsmouth where I learned a plethora of knowledge about the operations and issues that officers, detectives, staff and the extraordinary canine members of the PPD experience daily. I am passionate about serving this, my hometown. I have had discussions with Chief Newport, former Police Commission Chair Stefany Shaheen and several officers and back office staff.
I have an open mind, with a mixture of progressive and conservative thoughts. I will listen attentively to folks in the Police Department and citizens of Portsmouth. The single word I use to describe the most important aspect of any public service position is community. We all need to collaborate and cooperate to instill pride in our community.
Peace,
Gary W. Dozier
